About

A Mental Health & Wellness Retreat Center

The Anya House is a Mental Health & Wellness Retreat Center of Faith, Hope, and Healing For Women to regroup from the daily routines, responsibilities, and stress of life to reconnect with themselves. This space was created for women to experience the real life aspects of Latonia’s “Best of Me” Program, a 8 week program that teaches methods of healing that successfully transformed her own life and mental health. This space takes women beyond the program and into pursuing their healing journey. We’re not just learning and reading about healing here, we’re women doing the work on ourselves, practicing self-care, and making wellness an active part of life!

AT THE ANYA HOUSE, OUR MISSION IS TO MAKE HEALING AND MENTAL WELLNESS CONSISTENT, UPLIFTING, AND EASY FOR WOMEN TO PRIORITIZE IN THEIR WELL-BEING IN EVERYDAY LIFE.

The Anya House is Day Retreat Center designed with two Solo Wellness Pods and a common area to relax and feel at home. Each room has a unique theme to support your wellness needs.

The Anya House

Who is Anya?

Hebrew: A name that means “God answered”, “grace”, “favor”, or “compassion” and is a derivative of Chana, the mother of the prophet Samuel. It means “caring”, “affectionate”, “one who consoles others”, “one who helps others”, “mother”. Anya means: resurrection; He (God) has favored me.

There are so many powerful meanings behind the name Anya. It’s a beautiful name that I had no idea would have such deep connection with my journey. The name Anya came to me during a process of creating the vision for the type of women I desired to work with to fulfill the mission of Let’s Write Life. In a conversation with my intern, back in 2018, she brought up a name as part of my marketing strategy for LWL. I needed an avatar that embodied the type of woman I desired to serve and the name “Anya” came up for our example. From there, I write the vision of who she is and Anya was born as my women of hope. Anya is a women of strength who needs hope to find her light in a dark place. Anya is also a virtuous women who reflects her light of hope for others to know what faith, courage, and bravery looks like.

In 2019, I created the “I AM ANYA; Women of Hope” art piece to create dialogue and deeper conversations around my story of healing, journaling, and faith to break barriers around the stigmas of mental illness. It was not until I created the art piece that I truly sought out the meaning of the name and learned the significance it holds. I decided to share “I AM ANYA” for a mental health campaign that year. Out of thousands of applicants, “I AM ANYA” became selected as one of 14 art pieces to go on tour with the Janssen (J&J Innovative Medicine) and Johnson & Johnson’s national mental health campaign called, #ArtofEndingStigma. With this recognition and the story of what this art piece represents, I have awarded a women every year with this art piece as a beacon of hope within the Let’s Write Life community.

“I AM ANYA” is a portrait of my face with bold and whispered words of affirmations that reflect my story and my journey of healing. It has a real life page from my journal that fills in my face. Many people have asked me, is Anya my a name? With deep gratitude, I answer YES. It is not my birth name, but the name God gave me on the other side of my healing. A name I now share with you. When you look at the art piece, find yourself in my story, in the words, and in what you see that truly speaks to your heart. Journal your thoughts. I hope you find that there is a piece of ANYA in you. The heart of Anya is within a piece of every one of us. The ANYA HOUSE welcomes you home.
